Join Our Vision for a Healthier Maine by Recognizing American Heart Month!
Heart Disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Each year, one in four deaths are caused by heart disease. This is a big reason why Northern Light Health is joining the American Heart Association and others nationally for American Heart Month in February and Go Red for Women on February 1.
During this month, we are asking what you might do to become a Heart Health Hero. Perhaps its sharing a heart healthy recipe with a friend or maybe it’s joining a coworker for a walk—there are many ways you can help raise awareness and encourage heart healthy behaviors. If you need a little inspiration, our Heart Health Hero
website provides plenty of resources, recipes and tips.
One big way you can show your support is by wearing red on February 1. Every year, the first Friday of February marks Go Red for Women day. The day is intended to help raise awareness of heart disease, in particular among women. Have fun and share your pictures on social media using the hashtags #hearthealthhero and #northernlighthealth. Together, we make a commitment to rally together for change.
