Healthy Sebasticook Valley Coalition
Healthy Sebasticook Valley (Healthy SV) Coalition, an affiliate of the Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital’s wellness outreach in conjunction with community partners, is designed to support and promote healthy lifestyles to reduce chronic disease and increase quality of life in the Sebasticook Valley Region.
Education is a big component to make healthy changes, and a new three-part video series on prescription drug safety addresses drug monitoring, tips to securing drugs in the home, and information on how to safely dispose of prescription drugs.
The short videos will be featured on the Healthy SV Facebook page
as part of the organization’s “Topic Tuesdays,” and will also be posted on the Healthy SV website to provide ongoing guidance.
The videos feature members of the Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital family and local community. The video on securing prescription drugs is hosted by Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) local drug crisis project coordinator, Jessica Ouellette. The video regarding monitoring prescription drugs has Northern Light Primary Care family nurse practitioner, Emily Cianchette. Finally, Pittsfield police chief, Harold “Pete” Bickmore shares information on safely disposing of prescription drugs.
According to Ouellette, the video project “Aligns with the purpose of Healthy SV, which looks to develop and strengthen local capacity to deliver public health services across the Sebasticook Valley. We are very proud of the videos. We’re grateful to Chief Bickmore and Emily for collaborating with us to educate people about how they can make a difference when it comes to prescription drug safety.”
