COVID-19 Tests by Referral Only
The national supply of laboratory materials is critically low, reducing the ability to perform COVID-19 testing across the state of Maine and the country. In response, the Maine State CDC has shared new, stricter guidelines for testing patients. To preserve testing capacity for patients who may develop severe COVID-19, effective immediately we will prioritize testing according to CDC guidelines for high-risk individuals to include:
- hospitalized patients who are high-risk
- healthcare workers and first responders
- people living in closed settings like nursing homes
Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital has established a COVID-19 Test Site at 167 Leighton Street in Pittsfield, which will be open Saturday, March 20 from 7 am - Noon and Monday, March 23 from 7 am – 6 pm. The community needs to understand that only people who meet the above criteria will be seen and tested. To be tested you must have an order from your primary care provider.
We will announce updated plans for testing and triaging respiratory patients next week, along with a new Screening Hotline. Watch for more updates by liking Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital’s Facebook page or visiting northernlighthealth.org/Sebasticook-Valley-Hospital.
We ask for your understanding and patience as we follow CDC guidelines to protect our community. Thank you.
