New President and CEO Named
This past November, Northern Light Health President and CEO M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, announced that she would be leaving the system at the end of this month for a leadership position with the American Hospital Association. At that time, Barry McCrum, chair of the Northern Light Health Board of Directors, appointed a search committee to oversee the leadership transition. Today, McCrum announced that a successor has been named.
Northern Light Health’s current senior vice president and chief operating officer, Tim Dentry, has accepted the position of president and CEO. “Tim’s experience, passion for quality and a culture of caring, and dedication to Maine and Northern Light Health made him the outstanding choice as the system’s next leader,” McCrum said. In the weeks leading up to this decision, board members conducted a high level of due diligence, reviewing the job description, interviewing some great candidates from across the nation, and holding thoughtful discussions. “We found that we have the right candidate at the right time, right here at home,” McCrum said.
Dentry became chief operating officer of Northern Light Health in 2016. He is responsible for administrative direction, evaluation, and coordination of the system and its member organizations. Today, Dentry said he is both humbled and grateful the board saw in him the leadership qualities necessary to keep Northern Light Health moving forward. “What makes this system outstanding is its people, and we have some of the best. Never has that been more visible than during this trying time. Together, across our statewide system, we are caring for patients, communities, and one another amid the Covid-19 crisis that has spread across the globe. Daily, I witness heroism, selfless acts, and dedication that is inspiring. I thank the board for this opportunity and look forward to working with my colleagues to continue the advancement of Northern Light Health.”
Dentry is expected to begin his new duties on April 1, 2020.
