Acadia CARES and Acadia RACES

Together, we can help to create opportunities for learning and growth, and work as a community to help young people navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of adolescence.

Acadia CARES

Our Child-Adolescent Resource and Educational Series, or CARES, highlights crucial youth mental health and wellness issues. The series follows young people as they address topics such as eating disorders, bullying, anxiety, sexual identity, substance abuse, and resiliency.

The video series provide adults with important, expert information that can be used to keep children and teens safe. We are fortunate to have a number of experts featured in the videos, and they will be providing timely information, along with helpful resources.

Acadia RACES

As a companion offering to Acadia CARES, Acadia RACES – Responding to Adverse Childhood Experiences – is currently in production.  RACES will be a five video series intended to educate parents, healthcare providers, and community members about the often devastating effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and how informed responses are essential in supporting those who experienced childhood trauma.

We expect our Acadia RACES curriculum to be available in time for the start of the 2024/2025 school year. Check this site for more information.

Support from our Communities

On October 1, 2022, Acadia Hospital was honored with a very generous $15,000 donation to our Acadia CARES program by Friends of Cross Insurance Center at their annual Gala. Acadia was one of three non-profits honored that night, and we were surprised and elated to learn later in the evening that Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway was awarding us an additional $5,000! We are using these funds to refresh and expand the Acadia CARES program to help even more young people who need guidance navigating life’s challenges.

A video about each of the three organizations recognized was shared with Gala attendees. Take a moment to watch ours below, and thank you again to the Friends of Cross Insurance Center and Hollywood Casino for your support of this program and the young people who benefit from this important curriculum. Together, we are changing lives.
