||This is a part time temporary position.Job Summary:Under the general guidance of the Manager of Cardiovascular Services, the Medical Assistant assists the physician with patient examination and treatment of patients of all ages, according to the plan of the physician. The incumbent performs EKG on neonatal through adult patients, Holter Monitoring, Cardiac stress tests and event monitoring on adult patients only. The incumbent will be assigned responsibility for the routine operation, competency assessment, safety and regulatory compliance for one or more of the following tasks: EKG's; Coumadin clinic; PaceArt/pacemaker monitoring; exercise testing and/or external counter pulsation. Additional responsibilities include other clerical duties including filing, supply ordering, diagnostic payment information for billing and physician scheduling. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the incumbent conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.Job Summary:Heartsaver or Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification is required. One or more of the following is strongly desired: Certified Cardiac Technician, Certified Cardiovascular, ECHO, or EKG Technician, Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Graduate of an approved medical assisting program, Certified Medical Assistants OR current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maine. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Experience or post-secondary training in an area of healthcare treatment, testing, monitoring or analysis required; experience or training in cardiovascular services preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, staff, and fellow employees and with acutely ill patients. Must be able to explain technical information. Must have analytical and problem solving skills as the incumbent gathers and assesses data pertinent to patient condition and determines test result quality and organization of clerical duties. Must be able to operate independently and complete duties with minimal supervision. Must be accountable as the incumbent has access to confidential patient information and accuracy of performance impacts patient care.
