Position Summary:

The Patient Service Representative I is a supportingposition and is responsible for a variety of activities related to patientin-take and care. The Patient ServicesRepresentative I is generally the first point of contact for patients enteringthe practice. Activities may include but are not limited to greeting andchecking in patients, verifying and updating insurance information andconfirming other patient information, scheduling patient appointments,answering phones, updating demographic information, processing referrals,payment collection and posting, charge reconciliation, chart preparation andother duties as assigned. The PSR II may work with a fair amount ofindependence and serve as a resource to the PSR I. The PSR III will also beable to coordinate all components of patient appointments to include tests,surgeries and procedures and may work closely with Central Scheduling. The PSRIII will be expected to work with a fair amount of independence applying logicand judgement towards the resolution of practice challenges.

Education & Experience Required:

Patient Service Rep I

·Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalentrequired. Medical terminologycertificate or completion of medical terminology course within 12 months ofhire.

·Excellent written and verbal communicationskills; a proficiency in computer skills with a focus on the Microsoft OfficeSuite required.

Patient Service Rep II

·Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalentrequired. 12 months, inclusive of priorexperience, of clinical administrative work or graduate of a medical technologycourse (or other degree/certificate program completion). Medical terminology certificate or completionof medical terminology course within 12 months of hire.

·Knowledge of insurance coverage and referrals,ICD 9 and CPT coding experience preferred; a certificate of completion inmedical terminology preferred; knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Record)preferred.

Patient Service Rep III



·Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalentrequired. 24 months, inclusive of priorexperience, of clinical administrative work or graduate of a medical technologycourse (or other degree/certificate program completion). Medical terminology certificate or completionof medical terminology course within 12 months of hire. *VP approval can determine relevantexperience. VP can do exception to therule.

·Knowledge of insurance coverage and referrals,ICD and CPT coding experience preferred; a certificate of completion in medicalterminology preferred; knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) preferred.

Experience Preferred

A minimum of one year of verifiable customer serviceexperience preferred; a minimum of one year of secretarial experience,preferably in the medical field; Knowledge of insurance coverage and referrals,ICD 9 and CPT coding experience preferred; a certificate of completion inmedical terminology preferred; knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Record)preferred.

Other Skills Required

Must be self-directed to independently and successfully handlemultiple priorities. Must present a pleasant, friendly, approachable andprofessional demeanor at all times. Mustbe able to speak and read English clearly using correct grammar and vocabulary.

Physical Requirements

Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, walking andstretching, hearing /verbal/visual acuity, ability to keyboard for extendedperiods of time.

Working Environment

The Patient Service Representative I must be able tomulti-task in a busy, stressful ambulatory facility providing direct patientcare. The PSR I may spend a considerableamount of time in direct patient/customer contact.
