||$2500.00 Medical Assistant sign-on bonus availablePOSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant provides day-to-day clinical support in the ambulatory setting. Responsibilities include both clinical and administrative duties necessary to provide quality patient care in the ambulatory setting. Some of these duties include but are not limited to: urine/swab drug collection, breathalyzer alcohol testing, administering long acting injectable, obtaining EKGs, referrals, and screening patient calls as needed. This position is also responsible for upkeep of patient medical records and will serve as a liaison between the patient, guardian, family, and clinical team.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Assist in the examination and treatment of the patient, under the direction of a Licensed Independent Practitioner• Administers long acting injectable and monitors patient according to protocol. Documents administration in patient chart.• Coordinate / complete pill counts and urine drug screens as requested by providers and complete documentation in electronic medical record • Performs and document screening procedures including vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, pregnancy tests, urine drug screens, oral swabs • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patients for Licensed Independent Practitioner/guardian/pharmacy • Triage and process messages from patients and support staff to Licensed Independent Practitioner and nursing staff• Notifies patient of applicable results, communicating recommendations of diagnostic test or medication changes as instructed by the Licensed Independent Practitioner and document in patient record as indicated, ensuring clinical information is accurate, relevant and completed per policy requirements• Maintain patient files, records and other information including prior authorizations, release of information, receives lab work, including drug screen results, and other reports and forwards to clinical team• Obtaining clinic information from external sources including Health Info Net, Maine Prescription Monitoring Program, and outside providers as requested by providers• Accesses and documents sample and Patient Assistance medications for Licensed Independent Practitioner• Maintains inventory of sample and Patient Assistance medications• Maintain inventory of supplies and informs designated person of needed supplies• Proposing medications orders as indicated / requested by Licensed Independent Practitioner• Responds to codes in outpatient areas with appropriate equipment• Assisting clinical staff with patient transfer to higher level of care• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS / EXPECTATIONS:• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Must successfully complete Certification Exam within 6 months of hire. If a medical assistant program was not attended, five years' experience as a medical assistant with either AMT, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA certification is required• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. • Maintains regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, Federal and State. Complies with all organizational policies regarding EMHS's Code of Conduct and ethical business practices. • Attend all mandatory safety related education programs. Follow safety procedures to prevent injury to self and others. Carry assigned keys and wears hospital ID and Versus badge at all times. Refrain from the abuse of chemicals.• Will have up to date training and certification in Basic Life Support• Must possess good oral and written communication skills in the English language• Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon attainment of organizational goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork• Conforms to acceptable attendance, punctuality and dress code standards• Complies with safety rules and protocols, as established by the Environment of Care Committee• Maintains patient confidentiality with patients and fellow employees• Seeks assistance, guidance and direction when unsure of procedure and protocols and performance of duties• Demonstrates safe behavior in all aspects of job
