||Description: Directs and provides professional nursing care while meeting patients' psychosocial, physical and general aspect of care needs. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines, families and/or caregivers. Responsible for initial assessment, reassessment and documentation of assigned patients. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients. Communicates with practitioners regarding changes in patient's status, symptoms and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and appropriately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Assumes responsibility for supervising and assessing other nursing personnel. Responsible for safety and flow of the department assuring that staff comply with policies, procedures and JCAHO regulations. Communicates with all disciplines regarding patient status, flow, and continuation of patient care.
Licensure, Education, Experience and Skill Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Must have activeMaine RN licenseor be eligible to obtain. Must have active BLS certification. Active ACLS and PALS certifications or obtain within six (6) months of hire. Two years of nursing experience preferred. Previous experience in critical care or acute care experience preferred. CCRN preferred. Must have ability to operate, or learn to operate unit specific equipment and demonstration of excellence in clinical, behavioral and communication skills and practice. Demonstration of calm, consistent collaboration and teamwork. Must prove competency of excellence in leadership and critical care skills.
