||Under the direction of the Scheduling Manager, the Scheduler receives and assesses requests from all major customer constituencies: patients, providers, and payors. Performs responsibilities within customer service standards. Analyzes customer requests and coordinates accurate and thorough information exchange. Facilitates access to EMHS services by performing multi-facility and multi-resource scheduling activities including diagostic testing, surgeries, procedures and physician/provider appointments. Responsible for coordinating and providing customer service access activities such as preregistration and information collection. Performs a 90% or higher service level to customers using a call center phone technology effectively. Ability to schedule for 19 modalities and over 730 procedures. The Scheduler has contact with multiple clinical areas, physician practices, hospitals and nursing units. The Scheduler is the first contact many customers have with Eastern Maine Medical Center and they influence the effectiveness of the customer's encounter with the hospital. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associates degree or other technical college education or the equivalent in work experience and continuing education. Medical Terminology 1 & 2 course completion. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3-4 years in a medical setting; 1-2 years work experience with personal computers and customer service OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Verbal and written aptitude for adequate communication with physicians, physician office staff, clinical coordinators, Registration staff, other healthcare professionals, and the general public. Must demonstrate the ability to work well with others and to work independently without direct supervision. Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and other customers. Ability to handle multiple priorities successfully. Position requires close attention to detail. Must present in a professional manner. Typing skills of 35 wpm with a general working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position entails extensive customer service and phone utilization, visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist repetitive motion, and utilization of a computer/keyboard. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Seated for long periods of time; standing and walking; considerable amount of work on the telephone; primary work location is an off-site office environment with occasional inservices in clinical areas.
