||JOB SUMMARY: Provides direction and leadership for Respiratory Medicine & Sleep Diagnostic departments. Respiratory Medicine includes pulmonary diagnostic testing as well as acute and non-acute respiratory care at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Sleep Diagnostics includes all outpatient services provided to referred patients at the outpatient clinic located on State Street, as well as staffing services provided to non-EMMC entities including but not limited to Sebasticook Valley Hospital and Mayo Regional Hospital, and all responsibilities associated with providing these services. RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Responsible for all aspects of planning and managing the human, material, equipment and fiscal resources for Respiratory Medicine and Sleep Lab; responsible and accountable for developing action plans to contribute to the organization's ability to carry out its mission and accomplish annual pillar goals.REPORTS TO: Director, Clinical OperationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 5 years respiratory therapy experience. Ability to provide acute and non-acute respiratory care, if neededEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED: BS degree in health care related field preferred. 2 years of experience in Sleep Diagnostics preferred. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC standards; Maine State Licensed Respiratory Therapist or eligible to obtain Maine license. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of Respiratory care across all patient demographics; knowledge of CMS and JCAHO standards and conditions of participation; ensures staffing guidelines are appropriately followed as outlined by IDD for staffing guidelines for Inpatient Care Services and/or Departmental directives. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light to medium carrying up to 50 lbs., straight pulling/pushing, reaching in all directions, stooping, walking long distances, standing, sitting, repetitive motion/finger activity for sustained periods of time, speaking, hearing, moderate phone contact, visual activity; long periods of working on computer.
Physical activities include walking, bending, stooping, reaching, focusing, pushing buttons and unlocking locks. The Director must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine adjustments on electronic equipment. Some climbing of stairs and step-ladders, as well as pushing and steering book carts, is required when retrieving bound volumes from the storage area of an adjacent building. Mechanical dexterity is required to assist patrons by changing toner in copiers, checking photocopiers for paper jams, adding paper to copiers and trouble-shooting transmission difficulties on the CCTV monitor. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Involves working closely with others and in stressful situations; involves repeated exposure to infectious agents, secretions and body fluids; involves ground or air ambulance travel for transport.
