Job Details Position Summary:

Perform analysis, development, testing, documenting and troubleshooting of software applications using a variety of programming languages and tools. Provide technical assistance and support to users of computer applications across several disparate systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following, other duties may be assigned:

· Perform program and system analysis and design. Analyze user requests and produce written technical specifications per departmental standards describing proposed solution.

· Write programs and procedures utilizing one or more of the following languages and tools: Cerner Millennium Discern Explorer (CCL), Cerner Millennium Discern Expert (Rules), Cobol/Lawson 4GL, Visual Basic, VBA, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Siemens Adhoc Report Writer. Application development also requires expertise in one or more of the following operating system areas: MS Windows, AIX, Unix or HP/UX. Experience with FTP (File Transfer Protocol), LDAP, WSH (Windows Script Host) is helpful. A good understanding of relational databases such as MS Access, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server is required. Programming development experience with relational databases is required.

· Participate in on-call schedule for off-hours support of applications. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education Required:

Associate Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field is preferred.

Experience Required:

2-4 years of experience is required in addition to education requirements and the experience must be with languages and tools employed by EMHS for programming application development and support. Knowledge of healthcare and hospital clinical or management systems is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills; must communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical people. Must be analytical and thorough, showing attention to detail. Strive to continuously build knowledge & skills and share expertise with others. Organize and prioritize, using time efficiently. Must be good team player, able to work under pressure and with deadlines while remaining courteous and respectful. May be assigned to a regularly scheduled oncall rotation or be required to work off-hours for project implementation or support. While oncall or responsible for project implementation support, must be able to respond immediately and get to the office in 60 minutes or less, if onsite support is required.
