Job Details Job Summary:

Registered Nurse

The focus of nursing care on the NL-Cardiac Unit is age appropriate cardiac nursing care for cardiac telemetry patients. Nurses caring for patients on the Cardiac Unit care for patients with cardiac disease, cardiac surgery post operation, day 1, as well as pre and post cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures. Candidate must be adaptable to a fast-paced ever-changing environment. Candidate must be a strong team player, possess exemplary customer service skills and demonstrate consistent use of EMMC Caring Behaviors.

Regulatory Requirements:

•Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Maine or eligible to obtain
•BLS and ACLS certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire
•Successful completion of an EKG course and Cardiac Care course within 12 months of hire

Physical Demands:

•Capacity to concentrate in a busy and often stressful environment
•Ability to be in close contact with patients/people
•Sitting and extended periods of standing and walking
•Stretchers, monitors, pumps are moved several times a day to accommodate patient and equipment transfers
•Ability to lift 10 lbs. with one hand to attach IV pumps to IV poles
•Reaching and stretching maybe required at anytime
•Ability to push and pull heavy computers on wheels, push wheelchairs with patients of 300 pounds or more
•Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
•High volume of stooping, bending, lifting, pulling and twisting
•Able to stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from supply carts or bend to reach equipment on carts below knee level
•Must possess upper body strength, agility and lung capacity necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
•Able to wear protective equipment and pass fit testing
•Able to move portable oxygen tanks for patients from oxygen racks to stretchers to accompany patients
•Ability to perform various sensory requirements such as visual and color acuity, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing in order to assess and care for patients
•Ability to use the electronic medical record effectively and accurately including fine motor skills for keyboarding and the use of a mouse
