||Job Summary:The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for the daily servicing, cleaning, and disinfecting of patient and non-patient areas. Duties include, but not limited to, bed cleaning and making, trash removal, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and disinfecting all bathroom accessories, stocking supplies, dry and damp mopping floors, and the proper disposal of sharps containers. This position may be responsible for light maintenance functions (i.e. replace light bulbs, unblocking toilets). He/She is responsible for the safe operation and use of all equipment and materials while performing duties. He/She is responsible for ensuring cleaning quality is in accordance with appropriate standards. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Northern Light Mercy Hospital.Requirements:A High School Diploma or GED is desired. Education ensuring the ability to read, write and communicate effectively is required.
