||Position Summary:Provide a bridge between the patient and their healthcareprovider team. The Patient Advocate helps patients overcome obstacles toreceiving the healthcare they need and deserve. This includes medicationassistance, billing, medical records, and prior authorizations. The patientadvocate will assist the specialty pharmacist with patient phone follow-ups tocoordinate the delivery of medications in a timely fashion.Assists clinical pharmacist with coordinating patient consultations.Monitors and coordinates the scheduling of lab monitoring required of specialtymedications. Assists clinical pharmacists with administrative duties asrequired.Minimum Education Required: High School diploma orequivalentActive Pharmacy Technician license from the Maine Board ofPharmacy within good standingAssociates degree within business field, medicine, pharmacyor social services preferredMinimum Experience Required: •Three years' experience within a medical setting• McKesson enterprise Rx experience preferred•Excellent customer service skills, problem solving skills•Prior experience/proficiency with Microsoft Office•Pharmaceutical, nursing, PAS, registration, collections, orfinances services experience preferredCore Skills: •Maintains harmonious work relationships, team player• Completes assigned duties within designated time• Provides organized, high quality customer service• Must be able to continuously learn and keep up withconstant changes in healthcare coverage.Work Environment: • Indoor, climate-controlled office setting•Clean, well-lighted quiet surroundings•Extensive computer/phone use•Close proximity to co-workers•Minimal ambient noise levels•Time sensitive service standards•Travel to other Northern Light Pharmacy locations asrequiredPhysical Requirements: •Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time of 4hours or more•Stooping, reaching, bending, walking, stretching•Visual acuity, to include color, depth perception and fieldof vision with or without correction•Moderate lifting of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally,and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds constantly•Sufficient auditory function to hear phones, pages,instrument and/or system alarms, verbal commands•Must be able to communicate verbally with others, toinclude phone and/or radio equipmentPosition Goal: Working one on one with individuals whileassisting them with financial concerns during a very difficult time in their life.Must be caring, compassionate and be able to work in a very stressful, busyenvironment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levelsof healthcare necessary.Licensing: •Active Maine pharmacist technician license in good standingPosition Responsibilities & Essential Functions:•Coordinate prior authorizations•File for patient assistance program or copay assistancecoverage for patients•Coordinate dispensing of specialty pharmacy products•Record upkeep for patients followed by Northern LightPharmacy Specialty Pharmacy•Maintaining patient follow-up call schedule and notifyingpharmacist of patients requiring assessment and counseling•Preparing welcome packets for patients newly started onspecialty medications and maintaining the inventory of these resources•Coordination of care with referring provider offices•Maintaining regular communication of patient status withreferring providers•Other administrative duties as required•Alert supervisor to any problems or situations as theyoccur and enlist his/her help if necessary•Generate reports as required/requested independently
