||Job Summary:Under the guidance of the Practice Manager, the Speech Language Pathologist performs evaluations and plans and implements rehabilitative treatment programs on pediatric through geriatric patients as ordered and approved by physicians. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.Requirements:State of Maine license as Speech Language Pathologist or eligible to obtain, registration with the State Board of Examiners, and the certificate of clinical completion from American Speech Language Association (ASHA) is required. Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification within 90 days of hire is required. Previous clinical experience is desired. Acute care hospital experience is preferred. The incumbent must have the judgment and flexibility to deal professionally with differing physician treatment ideologies. Must have a high degree of analytical and problem solving skills as the incumbent must gather and evaluate data, develop and implement treatment programs appropriate to patient condition and in accordance with physician orders and department protocols. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as the incumbent deals with patients, their families and staff. The incumbent must be able to explain highly technical information an easily understandable manner. Must be highly accountable as the incumbent's work and judgment directly impacts patient care. The incumbent has access to highly confidential patient information.
