Job Summary:

The Professional Nurse II is afully competent practitioner of nursing. The incumbent isresponsible for the practice of nursing according to the Rules and Regulationsdefined in the State of Maine Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Hospital Standards ofCare/Practice, policies and procedures.The PN is responsible for the delivery of patient care to assignedpatients and for the supervision of other qualified staff towhom the PN has delegated patient care in the exercise of his/her independentjudgment. The Nurse plans and evaluatesthe nursing care for patients and families and exercises independent judgmentin implementing the care him/herself or assigning the care to other qualified staff. The nurse addresses physical, spiritual,emotional and educational needs of the patient, and coordinates the plan ofcare with other healthcare professionals.The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performancestandards established for the job.

The incumbent may have access to highly confidentialpatient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle &protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies,HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent isresponsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or othersecurity risks to the organization. Theincumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patientsafety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all jobresponsibilities according to the Missionand Values of Northern Light Mercy Hospital.


Current license as a Registered Nurse in theState of Maine.

HealthcareProvider/Professional Rescuer certification is required.
