Job Details The Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech supports and utilizes the team concept in daily practice to maximize function of the unit, works with Department Head Nurse/RN to coordinate patient care activities, obtains, cleans and returns equipment and supplies, maintains medical records, performs unit secretary tasks generated by computerized order entry and performs the duties of the cardiac monitor tech to include; monitoring, running and documenting rhythm strips, reviewing memory banks, promptly ing the nurse of patient rhythm changes, and assuring that monitors are watched by a qualified person at all times.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalentrequired
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrated history of exceptional customer service
  • The successful completion of the monitor tech course preferred but will train
  • Medical terminology in 6 months
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and be a demonstrated team player. Must demonstrate reliability and accountability to team members and patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Capacity to concentrate in a busy and often stressful environment. Ability to come in close contact with people. Sitting for extended periods of time as well as standing and walking are required. Must be able to stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from the supply carts of bend to reach equipment supplied below knee level.Use of the electronic medical record requires visual acuity for reading information on computer screens and fine motor skills for keyboarding and use of a mouse.
