Nursing School New Graduate & Residency Program

We are inviting ALL NURSING STUDENTS WHO ARE EITHER CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN YOUR FINAL SEMESTER OF NURSING SCHOOL OR RECENTLY GRADUATED FROM NURSING SCHOOL. We look forward to chatting with you regarding our Nursing School New Graduate Pre-NCLEX & Nurse Residency Program!


We are offering New Graduate Nurse positions to qualified candidates for the following areas:
  • Telemetry
  • Surgical M3
  • Neuro/Ortho
  • Respiratory/Oncology
  • Operating Room

Qualifying New Graduate Nurses will have the choice to start Pre-NCLEX, or Post-NCLEX at EMMC!! All New graduates are required to participate in the next available Residency Cohort following their hire date.

Pre-NCLEX Requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (currently in last semester Nursing School or recently graduated from Nursing School) and able to provide an Authorization to test, prior to start date. Must attempt the NCLEX within 60 days of hire, and hold or be eligible to obtain CNA, CST, Pharm Tech, or other licensure in the event the New Graduate is unable to pass the NCLEX exam.

Post NCLEX Requirements: Maine RN license or eligible to obtain (currently in last semester of Nursing School or recently graduated from Nursing School)

All POSITIONS:

Northern Light EasternMaine Medical Center is proud to enroll all newly graduated nurses in our NurseResidency Program! Residency cohorts begin twice a year (summer & winter);nurses will be placed in a cohort based on their date of hire. The NurseResidency Program consists of monthly workshops, quarterly simulationexperiences and an evidence-based practice project over an 11-monthperiod. The residency program is a commitment of 12 hours per month andis included as one of your scheduled 12 hour work shifts in a 36 hour workweek. The program is required for all new graduate nurses, with the goalof assisting the resident with the transition from advanced beginner tocompetent professional nurse.

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to complete comprehensive age specific nursing care to the population of patients within the assigned unit/area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting, Standing, Walking required. Must possess upper body strength, agility, and lung capacity necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Capacity to concentrate in a busy and often stressful environment. Participation in the development of unit specific strategic goals that assist with the fulfillment of the Eastern Maine Medical Center mission and vision.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced clinical environment. Participation in unit specific and hospital wide activities that promote self and staff development. Participation in the development of unit specific strategic goals that assist with the fulfillment of the Eastern Maine Medical Center mission and vision.

Must have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and be a demonstrated team player. Must demonstrate reliability and accountability to team members and patients.
