Job Details Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager, this position is responsible for scheduling and coordinatingrehabilitationoffice hours to ensure efficient and timely administrative intervention of patient's medical needs. Answers the multi-phone, prepares medical records for patient visits, greets patients, visitors and vendors. Gathers appropriate demographic and insurance information needed for billing of all office charges. Collects payments or co-pays for office visits. Maintains appropriate supply of forms and other office supplies. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job.

The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.


A High School Diploma or GED is required. Post-secondary education preferred. Two (2) to three (3) years of work experience in a medical office setting along with daily interaction with physician, physician assistants or nurse practitioners preferred. Must have the judgment and initiative to work independently and identify and resolve office procedure problems with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills are required as the incumbent deals with acutely ill patients, families, physicians and staff. Incumbent must explain technical information to patients. Must be highly accountable as quality, accuracy and timeliness of work impacts patient care. Incumbent has access to confidential patient information.
