Job Summary: Assist with checking in/checking out patients, answering up to a few hundred telephone calls per day, working within an electronic medical record; supporting an extremely busy cardiology medical group office with 20 physicians and 13 mid-level providers.

Brief list of duties to include but not limited to:
  • Answering incoming patient phone lines
  • Retrieving and processing messages left by patients
  • Processing correspondence to referring physicians and patients
  • Cross covering other positions as needed
  • Documenting information in Patient's chart
  • Processing insurance referral/prior authorization and documents
  • Patient Scheduling
  • Scheduling of tests and procedures
  • Patient Check in and out

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • 1-2 years experience with personal computers and frontline customer service
  • Keyboarding 35 wpm
  • Knowledge of computers

Education/Experience Preferred:
  • Graduate/equivalent of a 2-year program in a medical science field or equivalent
  • ICD-9 and CPT coding experience a plus
  • 2 years medical office experience
  • Knowledge of insurance referrals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Medical terminology

  • Neat appearance

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, walking and stretching, ability to keyboard for extended periods of time.

Working Environment: Busy, often times stressful, ambulatory facility providing direct patient care, considerable amount of direct patient/customer contact.
