The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation of high-pressure boilers and related physical plant equipment along with several life support systems. The position completes maintenance work requests repairs throughout the facility and preventative maintenance equipment throughout the facility. The maintenance mechanic will also assist the other trades on a daily basis or during major projects. The position also backs up the utility for shuttle request and security during certain situations. The position also stands non-restricted on call. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Northern Light Mercy Hospital.
A State of Maine High Pressure Boiler Operators License is required. A Fourth Class State of Maine Stationary Engineers License is preferred. Must have a valid State of Maine Vehicle Operator's license. A High School Diploma or GED is desired. Education ensuring the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively is required. Two-year technical training US Navy, Coastguard, Merchant marine or industrial steam plant experienced desired. Experience in operation, maintenance and repairs of plant equipment desired. Previous Healthcare maintenance experience preferred.
