||~~This job represents multiple job openings~~POSITION SUMMARY: The Insurance Verification Representative will ensure all referrals and tests are scheduled appropriately based on insurance plans and eligibility of coverage. This will be accomplished by using electronic communication systems such as internet sites, computer links, and electronic data exchange software or telephone when electronic systems are not available. The insurance verification representative is responsible for understanding complexities of health plans and is to have a general understanding of their role in the revenue cycle. They may also update the registration for patients checking into the department when necessary. In addition, they will have a strong understanding of the daily operations of the department and assist with additional duties as assigned by the department manager.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Associates degree or other technical college education or the equivalent in work experience and continuing education. Completion of Medical Terminology 1 course. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years in a medical setting & work experience with personal computers/customer serviceMINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERED: 1 - 2 years Registration and Patient Account Services experience preferred. OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: · Verbal and written aptitude for adequate communication with the general public, physicians, physician office staff, Registration staff, and other healthcare professionals. · Must demonstrate the ability to work well with others and to work independently without direct supervision. · Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and other customers. · Ability to handle multiple priorities successfully. · Position requires close attention to detail. · Must present in a professional manner. · Typing skills of 35 wpm · General working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position entails extensive customer service and phone utilization visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist repetitive motion, and utilization of a computer/keyboard. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Seated for long periods of time; standing, walking; considerable amount of work on the telephone; work in a pleasant office environment. High noise level due to multiple phones and conversations. An extremely busy, often stressful practice providing direct patient care, front line customer service contact.
