TheFood Service Associate has duties/responsibilities in the kitchen and on thepatient floor areas. The Food Services Associateis responsible for operating the dishwasher, the 3 bay sink or other devicesfor washing soiled dishware, sweeping/ mopping of floors, removing trash andother related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. The Food Service Associate may be requestedto help with stocking and restocking of various items and maintaining abovestandard cleanliness of these areas. TheFood Service Associate is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient trays(including all items on it), kitchen utensils soiled in the process of foodpreparation, maintaining the cleanliness of the work area for safe, sanitaryhandling of food, equipment and supplies.This position may be responsible for some simple food preparation tasksas assigned by the Supervisor or Cook in preparation of tray service,participate in the assembly of trays for patient/residents, transport foodconveyors to and from the patient floors and bring food trays to the patientson various units.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
01.Operates dishwasher or other devices for washing soiled dishware.
02.Cleans and sanitizes kitchen utensils soiled in the process of foodpreparation.
03.Cleans assigned work areas and equipment.
04.Participates in the assembly of food trays for patients/residents.
05.Transport of food conveyors to and from patient/resident meal sites.
06.Transport of food trays to the patient's room.
07.May be requested to stocks and restocks various items in the department.
08.Follows State and Federal guidelines for the safe, sanitary handling offood, equipment and supplies.
09.Other work related duties as assigned by Supervisor.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Environmentis hot and fast paced with stressful conditions at times.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing/Walking– 80-90% of the shift.
Lifting– must be able to lift up to 50 pounds using good body mechanics.
Pushing/Pulling– must be able to push/pull a cart distances greater than 3 feet manually orwith assisting devices.
Hands/Arms/Wrist– must have good range of motion.
Manualdexterity – must have good dexterity.
Bothhands – use of both hands required.
Vision– must have good vision and be able to read small print.
Hearing– must be able to hear items whispered at 3 feet (FAA Class III).
Speech– must be able to effectively communicate English.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Some kitchen experience is desirable. On the job training is provided as necessary.SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
