||POSITION SUMMARY: Directs and provides professional nursing care to Obstetrics patients while meeting their psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care needs. This includes care provided prenatally/antepartum, intrapartum, post partum and newborn. Utilizes the nursing process. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines, patients, families, and /or caregivers. Responsible for initial assessment, reassessment and documentation of assigned patients. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patients. Communicates with practitioners regarding changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Assumes responsibility for supervising/assessing other nursing personnel.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of Labor and Delivery, post partum and nursery Nursing preferred. A strong desire to work in Women's Health/Obstetrics will be considered if new graduate. LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Active Maine RN license or eligibility to obtain required.CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Active BLS certification required. NRP, Fetal Monitoring and STABLE all within 6 months of hire. Fetal monitoring education every 2 years. ACLS, PALS and Doula training also encouraged.
