Job Details Job Summary:

The role the Revenue Cycle Analyst is to assist EMHS organizations in identifying and implementing process improvements in an effort to operate a "best in class" revenue cycle. This position serves in a key role to improve the overall effectiveness of revenue cycle policy, practices and technology platforms for all EMHS organizations.

The Revenue Cycle Analyst - Associate is an analytical and process improvement role with a primary focus of working on revenue cycle tasks directed by department leaders with the purpose of improving revenue cycle process outcomes. This position requires knowledge in revenue cycle, financial, business, clinical or other analytical skills with a focus on key performance metrics. The primary responsibility of this role is to support projects directed by senior analysts and management in data and information. The Analyst will serve as a resource for teams working on major, complex performance improvement efforts that affect multiple facility and clinical practice revenue cycle protocols throughout EMHS.

It is critical that this position be highly effective in delivering the services described in the Duties and Responsibility and work harmoniously with staff in the various revenue cycles across EMHS. Effectiveness will be measured in terms of results, commitment to EMHS and customer satisfaction (at all levels).

This position is a member of the EMHS Revenue Cycle team. Duties may be changed or reassigned by the Chief Revenue Officer as need arises.

Job Functions and Duties:

The Revenue Cycle Analyst – Associate, HIM reports to the System Director of Health Information Management (HIM). The Analyst will assist the System Director of HIM with developing system wide process, technology, controls and key personnel that must be coordinated to optimize data integrity such as release of information, scanning of paper documents, clinical documentation, code assignments, HIPAA, compliance, auditing and customer satisfaction.

This position is an analytical role with a primary focus of working on revenue cycle tasks directed by Revenue Cycle Analyst – Senior & Intermediate, Managers and Directors with the purpose of improving revenue cycle process outcomes. This position requires knowledge in medical records, coding, CDI, revenue cycle, financial, business, and clinical or other analytical skills with a focus on key performance metrics. The primary responsibility of this role is to support projects directed by senior & intermediate analysts and management in data and information. This position requires excellent ability to write, type and edit correspondence, reports and presentations; to be well organized and able to meet deadlines; and be proficient with Microsoft Office products and database management. Position requires flexibility to perform under various revenue cycle initiatives. The Associate Analyst will serve as a resource for teams working on major, complex performance improvement efforts that affect multiple facility and clinical practice revenue cycle protocols throughout EMHS.

The Associate Analyst, HIM will be involved with: data gathering requirements, analyzing findings, assist with implementing new and improved processes. Effectiveness of this position shall be measured in terms of assisting teams to achieve financial and other tactics, high quality output, and customer service satisfaction.

General

1. Provides support in root cause analysis to understand the business issues and summarize data challenges for all EMHS organizations.

2. Supports lead analyst(s) in reviewing, reconciling, and analyzing revenue cycle data including vender service placements, to identify fragmented processes and make recommendations for improvement.

3. Provides support for inquiries or issues related to improvement. May assist with research, diagnosis and help resolve problems and escalates to senior leadership as needed.

4. Assists with applying appropriate reconciliation and testing to analytical results to provide high quality and accurate results.

5. Assists in data interpretation, communication, and presentations around key performance indicators.

6. Assists in gap analysis and transforming data into useful information.

7. Updates scorecards and other data tools to help provide actionable information.

8. Reviews and analyzes revenue cycle functions to identify fragmented processes and make recommendations to management for improvement.

9. Will assist lead analyst(s) with identifying opportunities for process improvement utilizing key indicators (i.e. release of information, scanned paper documents, clinical documentation, code assignments, HIPAA, compliance, auditing) and will assist with corrective action in collaboration with others.

10. Assists with special analysis and projects as needed.

11. Works collaboratively with lead analyst(s) / manager / director to identify best practices and help develop performance standards that can be tracked and reported.

12. Works collaboratively with management personnel to identify processes that negatively impact Accounts Receivable.

13. Liaison for EMHS HIM team and other departments/member hospitals, often reaching out for further information, communication, follow up, etc.

14. Responsible for gathering, storing and keeping track, in an organized way, of all necessary data and documents that have been collected

15. Involved in several meetings to add input and to assist in organization of projects, scheduling, minutes, etc.

Professional Development
1. Improve knowledge in data analytics by attending various seminars and classes relevant to current business needs.

Education and Experience:

  • · Bachelor's degree in Business or related field plus at least two years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle operations OR associate's degree in Business or related field plus at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle operations OR a high school diploma plus at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in revenue cycle operations.

    · Experience with assisting in diagnosing, evaluating and developing corrective actions for problems in revenue cycle operations.

    · Experience with EMHS Software, data and business information is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Knowledge of Revenue Cycle, medical records compliance, coding guidelines, and documentation auditing principles.

· Knowledge of business analysis techniques is preferred.

· Working knowledge of all functional areas of the revenue cycle, including patient access, contract and denial management, CDM and charge capture management, and strategic pricing.

· Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

· Intermediate Microsoft software knowledge and ability to train/assist end-users.

· Flexible and able to react to ever changing priorities.

Travel Requirements:

· 15 – 50% travel may be required.

· Employee must have a valid drivers' license and possess own transportation.
