||Job Summary:The Endoscopy technician is responsible for the utilization of endoscopy equipment and supplies including biopsy forceps, snares, injection needles, cytology brushes, forceps, dilators, cautery, 6-shooters and ERBE cautery. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of physicians and assists the RN in quality care of the patient as well as other tasks needed. The Endoscopy technician is also required to be on-call as needed by the unit, which includes weeknights, holidays and weekends. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital. Requirements:Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification is required. A High School Diploma or GED required. Endoscopy or Surgical Technician certification preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively including under duress. Ability to take direction from multiple sources, and to prioritize appropriately.
