Job Details Job Summary

The Revenue Cycle Informaticist (RCI) facilitates the integration of Information Systems (IS) and knowledge to support revenue cycle healthcare staff in decision making, design, education and implementation of EMHS's clinically driven revenue cycle. The primary role of the RI is to serve as a liaison between IS and revenue cycle/financial operations and other stakeholders to educate, support, facilitate change and assure optimal use and evolution of EMHS healthcare information technology (HIT) assets. This individual is expected to exercise discretion and judgment with minimal supervision while conducting training and assisting with parts of a project or process within the department. It is important this person understands, technically, how systems interrelate with other departmental systems applications. This position partners with Member Organizations, revenue cycle and clinical leadership in providing the analysis of workflow process (current and future state) and gap identification required to support the application that will automate or improve upon the current system. The RCI works with a team on phases of application implementation, systems analysis, and assists with preparing detailed specifications from which programs will be written. It is expected that of all revenue cycle training materials including technology, policies, and procedures will be routinely reviewed and periodically updated.

The RCI will support the entire Revenue Cycle and various Workgroups.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor's Degree or higher in business, engineering, HIT/computer science/technology operating systems or equivalent experience (8 years of revenue cycle experience preferably in a multi-facility system)

· Two (2) years of experience in revenue cycle/financial, engineering, HIT/computer science/technology operating systems or accounting/business background preferred

Essential Functions

· Assists with the development of competency-based educational activities, using adult learning principles demonstrating strong facilitation skills

· Must be able to continually learn, develop and successfully present new educational material

· Assists in the development of workable implementation plans regarding change management; communicates changes effectively; builds commitment and solves problems effectively

· Work various schedules to support EMHS learning and development associated with HIT implementations impacting revenue cycle business operations; works independently

· Partners with operational leadership, IS, Clinical Informatics (CI), Finance, VPs-Finance, VP-Revenue Cycle to plan, coordinate, and facilitate clinically driven revenue cycle HIT, training and change initiatives

· Evaluates the impact of technology to improved efficiencies in processes, workflows and adoption for staff to enhance quality of care and revenue compliance

· Works with revenue cycle departments to understand and manage user expectations and communications regarding support service availability, responsiveness, and levels of service

· Participates in reviewing, analyzing and evaluating systems and solutions for Revenue Cycle needs prior to purchase/contract

· Participates in reviewing revenue cycle processes to assist in the design of new documentation and/or applications inclusive of policies and procedures

· Ensures consistent application of workflows in alignment with EMHS policies, regulatory requirements, and leading best practices

· Demonstrates an understanding of EMHS's HIT systems, participating in key events such as system testing and validation

· Partners with data, analytics and quality resources in the development of data capture, management and analysis to support EMHS's Revenue Cycle strategic initiatives in alignment with EHR design, use and adoption for implementing clinically-driven revenue cycle applications.

· Maintains a positive, professional, strategic relationship with Vendor Partners establishing mutual accountability and responsibility in addition to supporting bolt-on technologies for Revenue Cycle.

· Includes appropriate people in decision making process when necessary

· Demonstrates revenue cycle analytical skills

· Demonstrates effective time management skills

· Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications (e.g. Excel, Powerpoint)

· Other duties as requested

· Participates in Workgroups defining the integration of the revenue cycle applications into workflows, processes and training strategies impacting staff, patients and the community

· Assist in maintaining a work environment free from recognized hazards that create a risk or injury to employees, patients, or visitors

· All accidents and incidents are reported by employees within 24 hours and supervisor to submit properly investigated report timely

· Ergonomic evaluations are completed as needed

· When appropriate, assist and support with the return of all workers with work related injuries and illness to gainful employment

Physical Demands

· Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally, sitting most of the time, and only brief periods of standing and walking.

· Requires the ability to travel to member organizations as needed
