||A Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing resident/patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists residents/patients with activities of daily living and assists in the maintenance of a safe, clean environment for residents/patients on the rehab. unit. S/he must have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of Rehabilitation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES· Provide safe and efficient direct resident/patient care under the direction of the RN.· Keep charge nurse informed of the patient's status and changes as well as problems.· Participate in department performance improvement activities.· Comply with mandated hospital and department education programs.· Accept responsibility for professional growth and development.· Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of the TAMC organization. · Age specific standards: The individual in this position must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient. In addition, s/he must possess the ability to assess resident/patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care.· Excellent documentation skills with the ability to learn and incorporate FIM charting.· Demonstrate proficiency with resident/patient transfers.· Demonstrate an understanding of adaptive equipment and how it is used.EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS· Successful completion of an approved CNA program with not less than 150 hours of instruction.· Currently active on the CNA registry.· Must be able to read and write with proficiency to accomplish all NA responsibilities. · Prior experience is not required.· Must maintain annual educational requirements of 12 hours and work an 8 hour shift in a 2 year period to maintain registry status.
