Job Details Summary
Responsible for drawing venous and capillary blood from patients for laboratory analysis and assist laboratory technologists/technicians as required. Accurately perform computer order entry and laboratory billing. Must be neat, well groomed, courteous, and considerate of patient's needs. Must practice the Code of Conduct and Customer Service Initiatives.



Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Willingness to learn and to be exposed to danger of infection from disease-bearing blood during collection process.

Physical Requirements
Work involves standing and/or walking approximately 90% of the time. Repeat bending and stooping. Occasional exertion in handling supplies and some physical effort holding or lifting a patient. Physical dexterity, vision and hearing acuity are constantly required.

Exposed to all patient specimens including human waste, all type of body fluids including HIV, HBV positive specimens. Unpleasant smells may be encountered in working with specimens and chemicals. Exposure to dangerous substances is sometimes unavoidable. Depending on workload or schedule, long and irregular hours are at times necessary thus creating a stressful working environment
