||JOB SUMMARY: The Echo Cardiology Supervisor works closely with leadership and acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, nurses, and support staff in order to maintain smooth operations of the department on a daily basis. In alignment with the mission and vision of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, the echo cardiology supervisor duties will include, but not limited to: Ø Be the subject matter expert for equipment, procedures, new advancements and will assist with development of section budgets, exam protocols, staff competencies, orientation and training. Ø Prepare and conduct performance evaluations, staff daily assignments to meet productive staffing levels, assists with equipment maintenance and selection, ordering of supplies, and staff education in collaboration with the Echo Educator. Ø Be familiar with revenue cycle needs for testing areas Ø Will practice the principles ultrasound technology to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data and coordinating patient flow to obtain requested imaging studies in a fast paced environment. Ø Will be a resource person for other in-system facilities.Ø Collaborate professionally and effectively with members of the interdisciplinary care team, providing safe, quality, efficient patient care across the lifespan, with particular attention to the patient's age-related cognitive, emotional, physical, and functional needs Ø Be flexible to cover a variety of shifts with weekend, holiday and non-restricted call duties required as needed.Ø Must adhere to NLEMMC professional and cultural expectations, including adhering to hospital policy and standards of practice; fostering a culture of safety and professional growth; seeking opportunities for improvement in process and delivery of care; fostering professional accountability; and fostering a patient-first culture. Must demonstrate reliability and accountability to team members and patientsØ Set up and run procedural equipment, assist the physician in procedural support roles, and perform all other ancillary duties assigned to meet the patient care and operational needs of the department, as allowed by policy, competence and licensure. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:· Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent work experience, Certification from an Accredited allied health program that is focused on cardiac ultrasound or met Certification requirements through clinical hours, as well as possess and maintain ARDMS or CCI certification or will obtain certification in adult echocardiography within 18 months of hire.· Five years experience in echocardiology or ultrasound modalities· Earn and maintain Current BLS Certification OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: · Demonstrated strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology. Basic EKG interpretation skills and arrhythmia detection· Maintain structured reporting templates to accreditation and cardiologist's standards for results reporting, is the primary report writer and is responsible for training others to write reports as needed· Ensures there is a valid written physician order for the exam· Places pre-appointment calls to patients the day prior to exam, confirms the appointment with the patient, answers any questions the patient may have· Learns and maintains core skills, meets all expectations and performs all functions within the Cardiac Sonographer's Scope of PracticePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the unit: lift 10 lbs. with one hand; push and pull heavy computers & equipment on wheels; push wheelchairs/stretchers with 300+ pound patients; lift 50 pounds without assistance; maintain a high volume of stooping, bending, lifting, pulling, reaching and twisting; stretch, reach, and retrieve equipment from carts and shelving and bend to reach equipment placed below knee level; possess upper body strength, agility and lung capacity necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to wear protective equipment and to pass respiratory protection fit testing; able to perform various sensory requirements such as visual and color acuity, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing in order to perform job duties accurately; able to physically operate various computer systems.
