Job Details This position will be every Saturday and Sunday (12 hr. shifts) 7AM to 7PM and every Monday and Tuesday (8 hr. shifts) 10:30AM to 7:00 PM.

The employee will be responsible for greeting and registering patients that present for services in the Emergency Room via private car or ambulance, ensure all demographic and financial information is accurate, collect co-pays when applicable, answer phones and register patients for out-patient services as need. Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team, be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Greet patients that present for emergency/urgent care.

2. Properly identify each patient in Cerner Millennium without creating duplicate MRN's

or selecting the incorrect patient.

3. ED Greet the patient which puts the patient on the ED Bed board.

4. Alert nursing that you have a patient for triage.

5. Place the armband on the patient and have the patient sign the electronic consent pad.

6. Give the patient or their representative the patient info sheet and the patient portal sheet

to fill out while waiting.

7. Put the ED chart together and place in the appropriate spot for nursing.

8. When the patient info and patient portal sheets are returned to your desk, update the

accounts as necessary.

9. Complete and verify all the demographic and financial information on each patient

including employment, next of kin and emergency contact.

10. Complete the Patient Portal field.

11. Verify every patients insurance using EEM, Availity or MIMHS and documentaccordingly.

12. Enter patient co-pay amounts in the appropriate fields on the insurance summary tab.

13. Give patient co-pay information and collect co-pays at the time of discharge.

14. Enter patient payments in the Payment Portal.

15. Patients that are self-pay are to be offered the Mainecare and Free Care application.

16. Refer patients to either the Financial Guide or Patient Accounts to set up payment

17. Document in Siemens when payments are collected.

18. Answer all calls within the first three rings.

19. Print new armbands for the floors as needed.

20. Print new facesheets to the floors as they are requested.

21. Complete all bed transfers, accommodation code changes, and discharges after hours.

22. Keep the ADT paper log up to date and accurate.

23. Notify the Admitting office of all ED Admissions.

24. Process all ED admissions per the physicians order.

25. Break down the charts as they are returned and sort the paperwork according toprocedure.

26. After hours register any out-patient that presents for lab or x-ray.

27. Monitor the ED waiting room every 15 minutes and update patients and visitors.

28. Answer patient ED call bells and alert nursing.

29. Alert nursing staff of incoming ambulances.

30. Turn on helipad lights when requested.

31. Register the Crown run sheets on patients transported to other facilities or notransports.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: All other duties assigned by the department supervisor or manager.

EDUCATION SKILLS, EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES:

1. High School graduate

2. Typing skills of at least 35 wpm
