||JOB SUMMARY: The Health Info Service Associate is responsible for timely and efficient processing of patient information which includes patient/customer service, chart completion analysis for both the physical and electronic record, retrieving/filing/processing of reports, records and films, chart and film location, and assisting physicians/providers with patient record completion. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: · Medical terminology course required or completion within 8 months of date of hire· Associates degree in Health Information Technology or other technical college education or the equivalent in work experience and continuing education. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · Prior experience working with Microsoft Office Professional and database management skills EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Two years office experience in a health care settingOTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: · Excellent customer service· Must possess demonstrated strong computer skills and be able to work with multiple technical systems (fax, printer, copier, etc.). · Clear effective communication (via phone, e-mail)· Ability to multi-task in a fast paced busy practice environment. · Typing / keyboarding 45-50 WPM.· Demonstrated ability to understand and integrate JCAHO and HIPPA standards and other licensing criteria into daily process. · Documented ability to work well with others (teamwork) and independently (accountability, self-direction). · Position requires close attention to details across multiple steps in a single activity and across many simultaneous activities.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Sedentary work requiring good manual dexterity, ability to lift charts weighing up to 5 pounds per chart, to push cart weighing up to 50 pounds, clear speaking voice, visual acuity, keyboard data entry, prolonged use of video display terminal, use of headphone for conversation. · Individuals may bend, reach and stand to file information, retrieve charts and fax information frequently during the day. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: · Daily direct and phone contact with physicians, other staff, and outside offices/facilities. · Phone contact with patients/families, occasional in person. · Employee is subject to inside environmental conditions. · Clean, well lit with central heat and air conditioning.
