EMMC Family Medicine Residency Program

Join our amazing Family Medicine Residency team working side by side on our Adult Medicine Observation Unit with a 2nd Year Resident Physician and Family Medicine Faculty Physician. This fast-paced environment with a designated nursing, pharmacy and care-management team provides the opportunity to rapidly evaluate, diagnose and manage patients utilizing diverse knowledge and skills. This is a job that will keep you on your toes and constantly learning in a supportive environment dedicated to clinical education and interdisciplinary team-based patient care.

The purpose of the unit is to facilitate efficient disposition of patients to ongoing care in the outpatient setting or inpatient admission. We care for the patients needing additional evaluation or the tincture of time to determine whether they require admission to inpatient status. Length of stay on the unit ranges from less than 24 hours to up to 3 days requiring admission, progress and discharge documentation.

The hours are unique and designed to address the flow to this unit and cover higher volume times (Monday-Friday and 12 noon – 8 PM), but perfect for the individual who just isn't a morning person. Plus no weekends!
