Job Details Job Summary:

The incumbent performs duties in accordance with performance standards. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee, and Northern Light Mercy proprietary information, and must handle and protect the information in accordance with hospital and system policies, HIPAA requirements, and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, and other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is accountable for employee safety and will attend safety and loss-control training, engage in injury prevention, perform accident and injury investigations including conducting root cause analysis, and assist in returning employees to regular duty. The incumbent is responsible for participating in and completing all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Northern Light Mercy Hospital.



Requirements:



Certification as a MT/MLT with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. A Master's degree with emphasis in areas of administration and budget is strongly desired. Knowledge and training gained through a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical laboratory under a Board Certified Pathologist to included supervisory and administrative functions is necessary. Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills to define problems of an administrative nature, gather data, and determine and implement solutions with referral to the director only those problems of a broad organizational impact. Must use judgment and initiative to operate independently with minimal guidance from the director. Must have excellent interpersonal skills as the incumbent interacts with Pathologists, staff, associates, physicians and management. Incumbent must provide and accept direction, information and feedback from all levels. Must be highly accountable as the incumbent's ability and judgment affects staff, performance and impacts patient care. Incumbent has access to highly confidential patient information. The incumbent is accountable for timely oversight of the evaluation of current and projected procedures, tests and equipment.
