Job Details Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Technician (E.D. Tech) is responsible for assisting the clinical nurse in carrying out direct and supportive patient care activities for patients of all ages. The E.D. Tech works under the direct supervision of the clinical nurse and carries out patient care activities as delegated by the nurse. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the position. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.

Requirements:

This position will also work as a Unit Coordinator covering the desk when additional staffing is needed.

Current registration on the Maine CNA registry or active EMT certification is required. Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification is required. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Strong interpersonal skills, clear communication, and the ability to understand specific instructions. Evidence of direct patient care related experience.
