||Eligible for $3,000 sign on bonus!Job Summary:The Lead SPD Technician works closely with the Clinical Leads and Surgical Services Manager to ensure efficient flow of the assigned SPD department. Responsible for oversight of the transportation, sterilization and distribution of case carts, instruments and equipment for the Operating Room and Birthplace while maintaining all of the regulatory standards applicable to SPD. Assists in the coordination of the departmental operating activities, meeting all applicable regulatory licensure and accrediting regulations. Maintains effective QI programs according to Joint Commission. Inventories, orders and maintains adequate inventory of supplies to meet the demands of case carts and SPD as demonstrated by department standards. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.Requirements:Certification by CBSPD required. SPD technician with at least 3 years experience. Prior experience in a leadership role is preferred. Role will involve extensive liaison with OR staff and surgeons as well as training, developing and advancing SPD technician staff. Strong interpersonal skills, clear communication and the ability to understand specific instructions. Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to concentrate on detail and adjust quickly to changes. Knowledge of safe body mechanics and of physical layout and environment of hospital. Must be able to prioritize work to accomplish assigned tasks. Demonstrate effective communication skills as evidenced through participation in the peer review process and committee participation.
