Under the general guidance of the Lead Cardiology Technician and the Senior Echocardiograph Technician, the Echocardiograph Technician performs Echocardiograph, Stress ECHO testing and contrast echos on adult and geriatric patients. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or Mercy proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.Job Requirements:Heartsaver or Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification is required. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Post-secondary education with an associate degree in science is desired. A minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in Cardiac Ultrasound including pulsed wave and continuous-wave Doppler are required. Experience in color flow, echo stress testing and transesophageal echo is desired. Must have excellent interpersonal skills as the incumbent coaches acutely ill patients, interacts with physicians, staff and fellow employees. The incumbent must be able to explain highly technical information. Must have analytical and problem solving skills to gather and assess data pertinent to patient supervision. Must be accountable for timeliness and accuracy of testing as results impact patient treatment. Incumbent has access to highly confidential patient information.
