Thanks to a generous $65,000 grant from the Davis Family Foundation, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital has installed 15 new treatment chairs in the Presque Isle dialysis center.
For many, the journey to dialysis is long, some travel more than 90 miles, and most patients spend hours at the dialysis center several days a week. “The extra comfort these chairs provide goes a long way in helping patients feel well cared for,” says Samantha Carlow, dialysis center manager.
The new chairs feature electronic controls, making it easier for patients like Galen Dionne of Caribou to adjust their position. “I’ve been doing this for 10 years,” Galen shares. “I’m grateful to have such a caring dialysis center locally and be able to stay close to my family while receiving treatment.”
As the only dialysis center in Aroostook County, the facility provided more than 12,600 patient visits last year. This gift is a powerful reminder of what community support can do.
Thank you, Davis Family Foundation, and to all who give so selflessly to support our patients.
