Senior Vice President for Northern Light Health and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer
Suzanne Roach Spruce, APR, is the chief marketing & communications officer and senior vice president for Northern Light Health.
Suzanne oversees brand management, marketing, public relations, media relations, web and social media, internal and external system communications, community partnerships, and customer engagement, among other responsibilities.
She is passionate about building strong and lasting relationships, delivering clear and authentic communication, and sharing great stories about people and the amazing things they do.
In 2018, Suzanne successfully capped a multiyear strategic plan with the launch of the Northern Light Health brand, which touches every sector of the statewide health system and symbolizes a shared desire for a brighter and healthier Maine. The brand launch was the capstone of the health system's evolution from individual locations with a regional focus to an integrated health delivery organization with coordinated statewide offerings, and a brand promise of making healthcare work for the people of Maine.
A native Mainer, Suzanne grew up on a potato farm in southern Aroostook County where she learned early the value of teamwork and communication. She has served on numerous committees and task forces, is a past chair of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the board of directors for the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership, and the Legacy Medical Foundation at Millinocket Regional Hospital.
She was recipient of the 2020 New England Society of Healthcare Communications’ Evans Houghton Award for performance and contributions to healthcare public relations, marketing, and communications. She has also earned recognition from the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, Maine Association of Broadcasters, and Associated Press.
Before joining Northern Light Health in 2001, Suzanne worked for more than 20 years as a professional broadcast journalist, serving as reporter, anchor, news director, and editor. She has two grown children.
