Section 340B

Northern Light Health is dedicated to ensuring our most rural, underserved communities have access to a full range of healthcare services. Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act is critical to our organizations’ ability to serve uninsured and low-income patients. The 340B  program is a federal program created in 1992, the  program requires pharmaceutical manufacturers participating in the Medicaid drug rebate program to sell outpatient drugs at discounted prices to safety net healthcare facilities that care for low-income vulnerable populations.  In its more than 25-year history, the 340B program has been critical in helping hospitals to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, providing comprehensive healthcare services in vulnerable communities across the country. Northern Light Health Section 340B covered entities include Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Northern Light Inland Hospital, Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital, Northern Light CA Dean Hospital and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital. Northern Light Mayo Hospital and Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital participated in 340B in 2020 and their pages will be updated at the end of the fiscal year.
