Robert J. Schlager, MD, is the interim vice president and senior physician executive of Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital.
 
Dr. Schlager serves as the liaison between medical staff and administration. In his leadership role, Dr. Schlager is passionate about ensuring the goals of the Triple Aim + One (patient quality, population health, affordable care + healthcare worker well-being).
 
Dr. Schlager became the vice president and senior physician executive at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in 2012 and retired in 2022, but returned in 2024 in an interim capacity. He is a former president of the Maine Medical Association.
 
Prior to joining Northern Light Health, Dr. Schlager was in private practice in Maryland for 27 years and then chief medical officer and family physician at Calvert Memorial Hospital for another five years.
