Northern Light Internal Medicine Dexter has received the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition (Level 3) for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term, participative relationships. Simply stated, patients have a better quality experience when they are listened to and involved in the care process and when providers work in teams to coordinate care and information.

As your internal medicine provider, our role is to provide long-term comprehensive care, managing both common and complex illnesses. We take the time to get to know you, your lifestyle, your healthcare background, and your health concerns. We’ll make recommendations for preventive care, treat any current conditions you may have, and refer you to an appropriate specialist or another medical facility if you need specialized diagnostic tests or treatment. We are here to coordinate your care and make sure all of your questions and concerns are addressed.

Internists manage all common chronic illnesses of adults, including diabetes, heart and lung disease, and hypertension. We help our patients avoid or prevent the development of chronic illness.

We have a special interest in healthy lifestyles and diet (including vegan and vegetarian). We involve you in the planning and decision making for a thoughtful and comprehensive path to wellness via preventative care. We will work with you to minimize or eliminate medications.

We also provide basic women’s health services. Substance abuse and complex mental health services are typically referred to an appropriate specialist. We treat most common medical and skin problems. Since the practice specializes in adult medicine, patients must be 13 years or older.

If you do not yet have a primary care provider please contact our intake coordinator at 207-564-1224.
