Inland Distributes Free Food Boxes
Northern Light Inland Hospital held a drive-up food pantry event on October 31 and more than 1,150 boxes of free food were distributed to the community. The event was held at the Faith Church parking lot on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville.
“It has been a tough year and we recognize that some in our community are facing food insecurity; this is one way we can help with the immediate need,” said Terri Vieira, president of Inland Hospital.
Inland Hospital partnered with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program to give out free food boxes to anyone who needed them. Each 25-pound box of food had veggies, meat, and dairy products. Inland also handed out its Community Food and Resource Guide with each box to help connect families to local resources in Waterville and surrounding communities.
Thirty of the boxes were also distributed to the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter.
