The Importance of Immunizations

Date: 08/01/2019

August is National Immunization Awareness Month. Many parents tend to think of vaccines as something less important as their child grows older. In fact, teenagers and young adults are often at risk for several vaccine-preventable diseases. They need as much protection against these infectious illnesses as when they were infants.

Vaccines help keep your child’s younger siblings, older family members, and friends from getting sick too.

As you get older, your immune system weakens, and it can be more difficult to fight off infections. Vaccines can protect you from serious diseases and complications, so you can stay healthy as you age.

Getting vaccinated can help keep you, your family, and your community healthy.
