The Age Recommendation For A Colonoscopy For Those At Risk Is Now 45

Date: 02/19/2019

Colon cancer can require major surgery, chemotherapy, or can even become incurable. The American Cancer Society now recommends starting screening at age 45 for people at average risk. If you have a family history of colon cancer, especially in anyone younger than 50, or a chronic disease like ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease you may need to start even sooner.

Talk to your doctor today about your risks and ask when you should start screening, and remind your friends and family as well.
